the internet is probably the single most valuable tool that humanity has ever built. it has revolutionized communications, finance, and entertainment. its the single best compendium of human knowledge and exeperience that has ever existed. so its easy to see how digital identity and online privacy are only going to become more important in the decades to come. as it stands, internet privacy has already eroded under the watchful, unblinking eyes of governments and Big Tech players.
this series of posts is my foray into the internet as a field of study. the aim is to understand how technology and history shaped the internet into its current form, and how we can use that information in the future. its also an exploration of alternatives to today’s internet, to gain some understanding of more exotic protocols and networks that cover some shortcomings of the modern internet
